Ken Melton

Ken Melton | 2011 Staff Sergeant, USMC

Ken Melton is a Military Photojournalism student at S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University and is a Staff Sergeant in the Marines.



Originally from Gordon, AL., he joined the Marine Corps in June 2003 as

a Combat Correspondent. After completing recruit training in Parris

Island, SC, and Public Affairs training at the Defense Information School.  After graduating he was transferred to the 4th Marine Expeditionary Brigade (Anti Terrorism) at Camp Lejeune, NC.

Melton deployed with Regimental Combat Team-2 to Iraq and was attached to 3rd Battalion, 25th Marine Regiment and 1st Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion from March 2005 to December 2005 as a Combat Correspondent.

 

Upon return he was transferred to the newly established Marine Special Operations Command (MARSOC) as the Non-Commissioned Officer-In-Charge of the Public Affairs Section from February 2006-October 2006.

In November 2006, he assumed the role of Marketing and Public Affairs

Specialist for Recruiting Station Montgomery, 6th Marine Corps

District, Marine Corps Recruiting Command.

 

In May 2010, Melton was transferred to Syracuse, New York to attend the Military Photo Journalism Program at the Newhouse College, Syracuse University's MPJ.
