Emily Kulkus | 2010 Faculty


Emily Kulkus has been an adjunct newswriting professor with the Military Photojournalism Program at Newhouse for four years. She served as a writing tutor for students in the MPJ and MMM programs for several years before joining the teaching staff. 

Kulkus is a 2002 graduate of the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University. While a student she served as managing editor of The Daily Orange before founding Hermes, a weekly newspaper serving the SU and Cornell University fraternity and sorority communities. The newspaper and Web site published for nearly three years and won the Whitman Business School entrepreneurial competition in 2002, which included $25,000 in seed capital. Kulkus has worked at The Post-Standard, Central New York's main daily newspaper and Web site, www.syracuse.com, for nearly seven years. She is currently the Assistant Managing Editor for Features. She is originally from Scotia and has lived in Syracuse since 1998.
